Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre

The whole family will be blown away this summer at Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre, a truly unique eco-experience! And entry is FREE!

Did you know, Europe’s largest windfarm is only twenty minutes from Glasgow (off Junction 6 of the M77) and its purpose built visitor centre is managed by the Glasgow Science Centre?

Inside the Visitor Centre you’ll find an exhibition room where there’s hands-on interactive displays suitable for children (and adults!) of all ages. Learn how electricity is generated, test different turbine designs and even create a windfarm of your own! 

Our cafe serves delicious locally baked cakes as well as a good cup of tea and a selection of hot and cold food.  Surrounded by glass, the cafe has an excellent view of the windfarm, with the closest turbine only a short walk away.

Feeling adventurous? Then head out and explore Whitelee! There’s over 90 kms of walking and cycling tracks so make sure you bring your bikes and boots to make a real day of it. For the not-so-adventurous we have daily bus tours of the site. Our driver will take you up close to the turbines and teach you more about the history of the site and wildlife that lives there.
